DJ Tactics

The "Ill Brova" DJ Tactics was born in Newark (Brick City), NJ, and raised in Plainfield, NJ. Tactics journey into the Hip Hop Culture started in the 80's when he was pre-teen when Rapping, DJing, Breakdancing, and Graffiti Art were all the new craze. He (Tic-Tac, as he was then known) originally was into Pop Locking, but got into DJing when he and a friend wanted to share their expertise with each other. "He wanted to learn how to Pop Lock and I wanted to learn how to DJ," says Tactics. So Tactics taught him to Pop lock and he shared with Tactics to the art of Turntableism. Tactics interest in spinning grew upon hearing on-air legends Red Alert, Chuck Chillout, Marley Marl and carrying crates for then local 1986 DMC champion DJ Cheese.

During the early 90's Tactics began producing and spinning House records, though never abandoning his love for Hip Hop. After Spinning at a popular local club in North Jersey he first got his shot on the airwaves on the low powered station WCNJ-FM, in Hazlet, NJ with the "Urban Assault." With "Urban Assault," Tactics was the Producer, On-Air Personality and Mixer. After a year the station was sold and Tactics was left to contemplate his next move. He got with his friend, the legendary Chuck Chillout and put together a mock air check and sent it to stations in New York, Boston and Philadelphia. It was heard at then Philly103.9 and thinking it was real, they called Tactics in for a interview. Impressed by his clever presentation he was brought on to 103.9 as a Board Operator and not much later Tactics got his chance to mix on holiday weekends & Saturday nights before Jay-Ski's "Tha Fundamentalz." Tactics and Jayski forged a close friendship. So when the new Program Director looked to reschedule the production line up, Tactics jumped at the chance to work with Jay-Ski on "Pure Elementz." Parting with WPHI in 2006, Tactics began spinning a live Broadcast On NYC's 107.9 WBLS Live From "The Shadow Night Club."

Still maintaining his high profile residency at the Shadow, you can check him (with his mentor DJ Chuck Chillout and Bugsy) on 98.7 Kiss FM every Friday night. Tactics can also be found DJing at many events in and and around the NY/NJ/PA area with DJ Measel as the Ill Brovaz. Tactics is also the official DJ for the group P.O.R
